HISTORY

The CURATEUR welder was the first desktop portable polyester edge welder and was introduced to the market in the late 1980’s. This rugged machine soon found favour with conservators and others making polyester pockets; and as far as we
know, most of these original machines are still working in 2004. The key strengths of this machine were its build quality and its ruggedness. This combination meant that long operation runs could be achieved with consistent weld quality. During the
early 1990’s, the company making the machines ceased trading. Following many requests from users of the original Curateur, CONSERVATION BY DESIGN LIMITED bought the full rights of title and manufacture from the inventor in November 2000.
The ORIGINAL CURATEUR is built with the robustness of the CURATER and is back into production with many enhancements.

THE ORIGINAL CURATEUR™ Polyester Edge Welder

It is with great pride that we now offer the return of the all new ORIGINAL CURATEUR™ Polyester Edge Welder.

In early 2004, CONSERVATION BY DESIGN LIMITED started working with the original designer to begin production of an improved
model of the Original Curateur™. The emphasis this time would be quality first but at the best price possible.

There have been many improvements made to the original designs and these design improvements have been incorporated into the new welder.

We have increased the welding wire length to 800mm to give greater flexibility and to improve productivity .
The tray at the front of the welder is detachable for easy shipping and workplace handling.
The alignment grid has not been screen printed directly onto the grid but is provided by a separate self adhesive, thin polycarbonate "sticker" printed with a centimetre grid on the adhesive side. This gives a nice finish to the work area and it can be removed and replaced if it gets scratched or damaged.

The final product is an extremely robust machine (weighing approx 35Kg) made with quality components, a powder coated
finish to take the everyday knocks a busy working area affords and at a price just a shade above the smaller and lesser quality imitations!

The CONSERVATION BY DESIGN LIMITED Original Curateur™ comes complete with a spares kit which includes a spare
element and other consumable parts that may be needed.
