The KM-DBM digital measurer works alongside the KASEMAKE-CXD system in the preservation laboratory, capturing dimensional data
and feeding it to the box making system.
Alternatively the measuring system can work independently, in the “Stacks”, away from the main cutting system. Information collected this way can then be downloaded, over a network, to the lab, for box manufacture.
KASEMAKE-CXD, the in house phase box manufacturing system then reads the database and uses the stored book dimensions to generate the required container, with no opportunities for typing errors.
Satellite stations can be used to feed a steady stream of box data to KASEMAKE-CXD. These satellites don’t even have to be on site as their data can be transmitted to the central lab electronically via email.
The KM-DBM digital measuring system can accurately measure books up to 1500mm (59”) in any facet and is available in a range of sizes.
Measuring has never been easier or more accurate. Simply by sliding the measuring probe alongside the book and pressing a button the document is measured in a single axis and the dimension stored in an Access compatible database. Repeat this process twice and you have accurately captured the critical dimensions of a book. The database also stores written data that identifies the book to be boxed, name,
author, shelf number etc. so the right box is made for the intended book.
The process of acquiring box data is simple and easy to learn. After only a few minutes you can be accurately measuring books and storing that information in an Access database.
