Leaf Casters
Leaf Casters are the preferred equipment of conservators in the major archives and libraries throughout Europe and most particularly in France, where this technique is widely practised. All leaf casters are manufactured to order, and can be specified to customers' individual requirements. They can be as simple or sophisticated as required, starting with CXD AV1 which is a free-fall method (non vacuum) manually operated leaf caster. Extra features such as electrically powered water circulation, vacuum action and fully automated pneumatic operation can be included. AV1, 2, 3, 4, 5, can be upgraded to the next and more advanced model. |

After many years of research and development, have succeeded in manufacturing a Leaf Caster which meets all the requirements of restorers who are involved with mass restoration. Environmental pollution and increased public access has led to more rapid degradation and greater wear and tear than in earlier times. Consequently the necessity fo r Mass Restoration becomes more urgent because of the increasing likelihood of decay caused by insects, mould, water, fire, acidity, SO 2 from the air etc. Leaf Casters are developed to facilitate restoration using the old and reliable professional restoration skills using the latest techniques.

Specific Advantages of the Leaf Casters
- A divided sheet forming reservoir makes work more easy. It also makes it possible to form larger sheet sizes (partial sheet forming)
- Large work surface, 600 x 800 mm, the size of a folded newspaper or larger on request
- The duration of the Leaf Casting operation is extremely short, consequently there is little or no impoverishment of text and o risk of moving loose parts.
- By the method the repaired parts of the sheet dry quickly and release easily from the screen
- Wet or moist paper dries from the underside and therefore avoids surface puddles
- Lamination can be done on machines using CXD Spider's Wet Strength Tissue
- Pigments are held firmly in position because of the suction pressure and this reduces the possibility of pigment bleed.
- Leaf Casters/Vacuum Tables are easy to use and ergonomically designed
- Low water waste, important if supply is metred

LEAF CASTING / SIZING AND VACUUM TABLE APPARATUS AV6

Automatic version with circulation system and EXTRA POWERFUL VACUUM PUMP required for sizing within the pulp which being more viscous would be too slow in forming the repair without the aid of a strong downward suction.
